Where it all began

The Power of W - California had its inception in Riverside,  California in 2004. The initiative began in another form, under another name - American Indian Women of Distincti

It started on a bright spring morning, sitting out on the deck, first cup of freshly brewed Maui Chocolate Macadamia Nut coffee in hand, watching the sunrise over the Wasatch Mountains.  I was in town for a turnaround job and during my morning ritual to the sun, I was planning my day and thinking about all of the wonderful women I had met. All multi-talented, all powerful in vision, spirit, thought, action, passion, and compassion.

Then I thought of my mentors - gone now but not forgotten - Antoinetta Dunlap and Pauline Ormego Murillo, whose words of encouragement inspired me to achieve what had been envisioned before.

Although I had been educating, mentoring and coaching women for a long time, BusinessBrain was actually named that day in 2005.

I collaborate, one-on-one, with small business owners and nonprofit founders, turning ideas and dreams into reality, taking dreams to the next level, and guding visionaries back to their vision to reorganize and revitalize their organizations.

My own vision has now expanded to educate all women on financial concepts that will lead them to financial stability and independence. Especially, women entrepreneurs, who are also single moms, survivors of divorce and domestic violence, returning female soldiers and women who are underserved.

BusinessBrain is a division of The Malia Agency Ltd., a California Limited Partnership, established in Riverside CA in 1992. The agency evolved from my graphic design studio, Malia Design & Graphics, which I opened in Honolulu HI at the age of 16. Other divisions are Infinity8Media and IE Entrepreneur, The Magazine for Visionaries & Innovators. ~

About The Power of W - California

Distinction Symposium. The event honors women tribal leaders from the sovereign nations of California. The late Pauline Ormego Murillo (Cahuilla/Serrano) respected tribal leader, author, cultural keepers, educator from the San Manuel Band of Serrani Indians, was our first honoree.

In Salt Lake City, UT, in 2009, the branded WOD event had an offshoot, The Power of W, and informal grassroots coalitio, so named for a group of strong, visionary Native American women from the Navajo Nation who came together to make a difference in their communities of Salt Lake City, Ogden, Eden and Provo along the Wasatch Front, and in Las Vegas, NV.

The Power of W - California has revitalized this energy and vision for IE Women Who Mean Business who pursue their passions throughout the  Inland Empire (Riverisde, San Bernardino and a poriton of Los Angles counties) of Southern California. ~
